DEVELOPMENT AND CONCEPTUALIZATION OF A DYSTOPIA

This project explores the real estate situation in Madrid, focusing on Carabanchel, the district with the highest density of real estate agencies per square meter in the city. By constructing a utopia, the project aimed to graphically manifest a pressing issue affecting both past and present residents of the area.

The concept envisions Carabanchel in the year 2050 as an independent state, completely dominated by real estate agencies. To bring this idea to life, a visual identity was developed, divided into two contrasting parts:

The corporate side, representing the new real estate state. The rebellious side, symbolizing former residents fighting to reclaim their district.

The project’s graphic elements were physically presented inside a specially designed briefcase with a hidden compartment: The upper level contained official materials from the new state, such as passports, IDs, maps, and flags. The concealed compartment stored workers’ uniforms and identification, along with protest posters and modified maps.

Additionally, an interactive prototype was created in Figma, digitizing the printed materials to enhance the audience’s experience during the project’s presentation.
